#Pro Profiles - Roben Richmond

Today's #proprofile is the sweetest lady and owner of Tickled Orange Photobooth, Roben Richmond.

Anyone who meets Roben knows in a second that she is a ray of sunshine! I was introduced to Roben through my friend Ashley of Lainey Drew Blog and I am so glad that she brought us together.

Roben is such a friendly, open person. She is so much fun, I can absolutely see how owning a photobooth is the perfect fit for her. She brings her light, fun energy to everything she does at Tickled Orange Photobooth and just...everything she does! She was kind enough to answer a few questions with me and share a bit of her story and how she came to own her business, Tickled Orange Photobooth.

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself: Where are you from? What is your family like? What do you like to do outside of work?

Roben: Well, I’m definitely a local yocal. Blount County is a happy place for me, and I have never had the desire to venture out. We just bought a perfect little farm last year, so I would say our roots  dug a little deeper. My husband, Justin, and I have 2 girls. Tatum, 6 and Marley, 1.  If I am not working, which let’s be real- I stay at home and own my business, so remind me when that is- I love doing anything with my family. Adventures with our girl will never get old to me, and we try to soak up as much laughter and family time as possible. I also enjoy a monthly mom’s night out with my besties. Our go to is Babalus, because they gave the best guac and bathroom selfie lighting. And we end the night at Cruz. Always. Also, any chance I get to help someone or belly laugh- I’m on it.

Q: What was your journey to create Tickled Orange Photo booth and how long has the business been around?

Roben: So, Tickled Orange Photo Booth fell into my lap as a reminder from God that I had other skills to hustle after I left my job. I worked Child Protective Services for the State of Tennessee. My husband and I agreed that staying home with our girls was the most necessary option for our family at the time, so I  took a huge leap of faith and left my job this past February. I left without a plan. I thought I might go back to school for a Master’s Degree. One night I casually landed on a photo booth website. I don’t know if my phone listens to me, because I have done a homemade photo booth set up for pretty much every family party I have done. Anyhoo, I landed on this website and loved the idea. I had no idea photo booths existed outside the mall or movie theatre. I asked my husband if I could book a flight to Dallas to tour the showroom of the photo booth company- and he hopped on a plane with me and one of my best friends. Once I found the perfect photo booth, we discussed the pros and cons and I decided to be brave because I knew I could make it work. So I began planning in April. Secured everything financially, legally, insured my business. Wait, I had to call my other best friend on her opinion of my company's  name. It was pink chicken or something. Then she casually mentioned Tickled Orange. I liked it and ran with it. But I launched in June of this year, and it has been pedal to the metal ever since. I’ve been #blessed, and I am continuing to grow as business owner.

Q: Photo booths are all the rage these days for all kids of events, what do you think makes a photo booth such a fun part of an event?

Roben: The best part about a photo booth is that once you step in front of the camera, with the funny props- status, detail and contents do not matter. For about 20 seconds you are just you- being silly with your friends, your boss, your mother-in-law, your significant other- whoever it may be, and it’s a quick break from the world and reality. Love makes the world go round, but I would say there is a pretty good chance that photo booths definitely rank pretty high... any chance to giggle, love, share kindness, however happiness takes form- that’s where I want to be. That’s what I am surrounded by through Tickled Orange Photo Booth.

Q: What is your favorite thing about owning your own business and what is your favorite part of running Tickled Orange in particular?

Roben: I never expected to own my own business, so I am taking advantage of all of the opportunities to learn from this experience.  Of course, my favorite part about this job is all of the CAKE I get to eat at these events. Not to mention the laughter and happiness that comes alive in every session. We live in a world of photos. When people realize they get a printed copy of their photo, they light up. It’s the best!

Q: What are your hopes and dreams for Tickled Orange?

Roben: To use Tickled Orange as a ministry. I prayed for an opportunity to cross paths with people, to find a way to bring joy and happiness to others, and to develops friendships and working relationships. Tickled Orange essentially fell into my lap. I didn’t got searching for it, and that’s how I know it was my answered prayer. If good comes out of anything that I do involving Tickled Orange, consider my love cup full.

Q:  Now some fun questions: What is an unexpected or hidden talent that you have?

Roben: I have mad interrogation/investigation skills. I used to give myself high fives for solving conflict and problem solving in cases that I worked in the past. I’m a weirdo with a ridiculous sense of humor, and I enjoy a good game of Chess. Bahahaha.

Q: What is the silliest, weirdest, or (let’s face it) worst job that you've ever had?

Roben: Silliest best job I’ve ever had- Tickled Orange Photo Booth. The best desserts. Ever have been eaten on the job. Ha!!

Thank you so much, Roben! You are such a wonderful friend and you bring so much fun and joy to every event that Tickled Orange Photbooth (or just you) attends. It's been such a joy to get to know you and learn more about your business and your BIG heart for your clients and your community.
